STUDENT COUNCIL

The Student Council at St. Michael School is active in helping to voice students' interests, concerns, and ideas with the student body and administration.  Through activities like movie nights and the student council snack bar, we also help raise funds for other school activities and social events.

“We the students of the Saint Michael School Student Council, in striving to foster a faith-filled Christian atmosphere in our School, adopt the following commitments:

1. To accept the challenge of our leadership role.
2. To respect the interests of the student body in compliance with the rules of the school.
3. To promote respect towards one another
4. To promote school spirit through an enthusiastic attitude for our school.
5. To be aware of and to act upon the needs of our school community.
6. To promote justice and equality within our student body.

We, hereby, establish that we will abide by these commitments and uphold the articles of our constitution to the best of our ability.”

NATIONAL JR. HONOR SOCIETY

St. Michael School established its National Junior Honor Society Chapter in 2014 with 51 new active members in grades 6th through 8th.  The National Junior Honor Society is one of the oldest and most respected student recognition organizations in the United States. Membership in NJHS distinguishes students who have committed themselves to the pursuit of academic excellence, community improvement, and personal development.

Academic achievement is a core component of NJHS, but today’s students need much more than just good grades to get ahead. NJHS’s focus on service, leadership, and character helps students build the skills and relationships that will ensure success throughout their academic years and beyond.

DRAMA CLUB

The St. Michael Drama Club Mission Statement:  The St. Michael Drama Club hopes to promote the performing arts and encourages students to explore and develop their creative talents by serving as actors, stage and technical crew, ushers, and assistants for a theatrical production. The goal of the club is to develop members' performance and technical skills as well as to build friendships within the club.  Not only does involvement in the club activities enhance students' communication, interpersonal and reading skills but it considerably boosts students’ confidence and self-esteem.  By uniting people who share a passion for the theatre and creating a positive outlet for self-expression, the Drama Club strives to keep the arts alive.

SCOUTS

CUB SCOUTS
Cub Scouting is a year-round family-oriented part of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) program designed for boys who are in the first through fifth grade. For more information on Girl Scouts, contact Erin Nagy or 419-306-7973

CRIBBAGE CLUB

Cribbage is a card game that encourages logic, teamwork and mental math. Players attempt to form various counting combinations, as pairs, triplets, fours, sequences and fifteens. Combinations can be formed by the card played, or in the hands and crib in conjunction with the starter. It can be played by 2, 3, 4, or 6 players and we learn all the variations of dealing to those numbers. Any student in grades 7 and 8 are welcome to come learn the rules and strategies of playing Cribbage. We will be meeting nine times this year, usually the first Monday of the month. The advisor is Cindy Moening.

SCHOOL NEWSPAPER

Welcome St. Michael students to our new school newspaper, The Nameless Newspaper! If you would like to help name our newspaper, write a few articles, come up with a few good jokes or cartoons, interview a couple interesting people, or talk sports, maybe you should consider joining the newspaper staff. Mrs. Haas and Ms. Gibson are the advisors.

CODING CLUB

Coding Club is a fun way to learn the basics of computer programming, gain problem solving and logical thinking skills.  The purpose of this club is to build interest in coding and requires no prior coding experience.  Ms. Gibson will help kids develop an understanding of computer programing while working at their own pace.
