Beginning July 1st, the Diocese of Toledo implemented a new on-line, one-stop registration program so that any adult who volunteers with our youth (at St. Michael School and through all parish activities) can complete their needed Protecting Youth requirements through an on-line system called VIRTUS. This requirement pertains to, but is not limited to, adults who volunteer with children in the lunchroom, Discipleship/FROGS, youth group, field trips, classroom helper, coaching, retreats, 8th grade trip, Scouts, nursery, prayer groups, choirs, festival, servers etc.
Effective immediately, any and all adults whose ministry includes any contact with children are expected to complete three (3) on-line components of Protecting Youth registration at VIRTUS which remain on-file for 5 years.
(1) reading and signing an electronic expectation form,
(2) completing a social security number based background check ($25) (through Fastrax) – which replaces fingerprinting (and was previously $50-$60). The parish has generously offered to cover the $25 fee for volunteers if that is necessary.
(3) completing Protecting God’s Children Online Awareness Session 3.0 (also available in Spanish) at no charge, which will take about 75 minutes (formerly the Shield the Vulnerable course was $6).
(If you had fingerprints and/or the Protecting Youth course completed within the last five years, those should still be on file, and should not need to be repeated for 5 years but you will still need to register on the VIRTUS system.)
Please contact Susan Campbell our St. Michael Compliance Officer as soon as possible at email@example.com if your service in our parish includes ministry with children to learn all you need to complete your registration.
We'd like to have all this on file by December 31, 2016.

St. Michael the Archangel Parish
Main Church - 750 Bright Road
Diocesan regulations require that each parish school have a formally constituted advisory group. The St. Michael School Advisory Council serves as the advisory board to the pastor and to the principal. The Council is made up of seven (7) members who are elected, by parish-wide election, to serve overlapping three (3) year terms. For the next school year (2017-18), we will have three positions available. Seven candidates (Karen Adkins, Amy Kooman, Christopher McDaniel, Andy Schulze, Lori Strabley, Nicole Strunk and Brian Whitta) have submitted responses to the following questions. Please review the responses and vote for three of the seven candidates. Please submit your ballot by Monday, May 1, 2017
At the center of education at St. Michael the Archangel School in Findlay, Ohio are beliefs and teachings of the Catholic Church. St. Michael offers a challenging curriculum steeped in Catholic tradition and conveyed by inventive and dedicated teachers who hold high academic and behavioral standards. We help to develop our next generation of Catholic leaders by developing their faith and providing an atmosphere in which the Gospel message is at the fore. Our educators excel at making these beliefs come alive in themselves and in those whom they teach, while emphasizing a Spirit-filled, faith-based community that uses the Gospel Message to develop a deeper understanding of APPLES.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
SCHOOL DAY HOURS
Welcome to St. Michael Catholic School! We would like to especially welcome our new families who have joined our school community this year. We look forward to a most successful and memorable year.
We have many opportunities throughout the year for parents to get involved at school. Our School Advisory Council, Parent Teacher Council and Athletic Boosters meet in the evening. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings. There are also opportunities to help during the school day at the greeter table, in the lunchroom and on the playground, with holiday parties, driving on field trips, making copies and many more. We hope parents and family members can join us at our weekly school masses.
We are all looking forward to the joys and challenges that the school year brings. We hope that the St. Michael School staff and all who touch the lives of your children this year will be blessed with the true love of Jesus.
